About Alicia Dlugos
Hi, I'm Alicia and I use she/her pronouns.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who loves working with anxious adults navigating chronic illness, shifts in identity, and relationship stressors. My clients are people who want to find self-acceptance and who want to pursue the relationships with other people and with themselves that feel safe. They’re people who want learn how to advocate for what their brains and bodies need to feel calm and supported. As a queer woman and former medical social worker, I know first-hand the importance of having an identity-affirming therapist to support you in calmly navigating the complexities of living outside of the norms.
As a therapist, I embrace the following philosophies:
I believe that you are worthy of love, pleasure, and community.
I believe that life does not always have to be the way that it is right now.
I believe that we can release shame when we share our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding.
I believe that psychological pain is not an individual failing and often originates from the environment in which we exist. Our environments inevitably include the systems of oppression such as racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, and xenophobia. Therapy must acknowledge and honor your intersections. I humbly commit to providing trans-affirming, queer-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, anti-racist, and culturally-sensitive care.
I believe that as your therapist, I am not a “blank slate.” I will bring my genuine personality and perspective to our work while prioritizing your goals and wellness.
Me beyond the professional:
I love animals, and I’ve included some photos of my favorite four-legged friends.
I love exploring cities on public transit, especially in my home of Philadelphia.
I bake, make pottery, and enjoy relaxing in nature in my free time.
My name is pronounced Uh-Lish-Uh. It rhymes with Patricia!
